Maintaining your synthetic grass lawn

Four simple steps to maintain and care for your Synthetic Grass Lawn.

TigerTurf landscape lawns are versatile products for home, school, and facility use. Excellent for areas where natural grass doesn’t thrive, for heavy foot traffic areas and for places where you might want to enjoy a soft green lawn that looks fabulous all year round with minimal maintenance.

Artificial lawns are low maintenance, not no maintenance.  Maintaining your synthetic grass lawn is almost too easy!  You will save plenty of time and money by not having to mow, fertilize, or heavily water your lawn. You can have a lush green yard to enjoy and clean-up is simple, effective and fast!

The amount of maintenance required will depend on your specific situation. For example, if you have pets, children or are surrounded by trees, your synthetic turf may require a little more clean-up effort.

As with any landscape area, a little TLC goes a long way when it comes to the longevity of your synthetic turf. Here are a few tips to keep your lawn looking its best.

1. Clear Debris

Use a rake or leaf blower to clear off fallen leaves, branches, and other rotting debris that may land on top of the artificial grass. Take care not to shift the sand infill if your turf is a filled surface.  This will help your grass maintain a clean and groomed look.

2. Introduce Some H2O

Gently spray your lawn each week with a hose to remove dust, dirt, or pollen. Occasionally watering your synthetic grass lawn also helps prevent unequal distributions of infill.

3. Cleaning Up After Your Furry Friends

Artificial grass is safe for pets and cleaning up their solid waste is just as easy as on real grass.  So, plastic bags and pooper scoopers work just fine! Following pickup, hose down the target area.  Generally, that is all that is needed to keep the surface fresh and clean. If you do find a smelly patch, white vinegar diluted in equal parts of lukewarm water mixed in a bucket and poured over that area should neutralise any odours.

4. Spraying for moss and algae

Damp conditions and rotting organic debris can foster the growth of algae in your landscape turf. You can prevent algae and moss taking hold in your lawn by following some simple steps:

· Regular inspection of your lawn for moss or algae, especially in damp weather and in shaded areas.

· If you spray with chemicals, do use the correct rates and application method recommended by the manufacturer.

· The turf can be sprayed three monthly if necessary.

· TurfGuard is supplied by TigerTurf as the most effective and safe product to use on our landscape lawns. You can order this by telephone or email and we will have it delivered to you.

Cleaning Up After Life’s Little Messes

Your lawn is meant to be used and we encourage everyone to enjoy it to the fullest. Don’t worry about staining your lawn as most spills can be washed away with a bit of water. For those tougher stains use a mild soap with lukewarm water or use equal parts vinegar and water to scrub it out. Follow up by rinsing the area thoroughly.

The faster you tend to a spill or stain the better. Artificial grass allows you to enjoy your back yard with peace of mind. So, feel free to enjoy regular family barbeques or invite some friends over for a party.
